The full moon at 19° 52’ Gemini on the 12th and the annular solar eclipse at 4° 06’ Capricorn on the 26th (aligned with Jupiter) set the tempo for December, not only in their own right but because they meld into some heavyweight celestial action. There’s the Venus conjunction to Saturn on the 11th and Pluto on the 12th, for example. Saturn and Pluto are spending the whole of December within a few degrees of each other, preparatory to their historic conjunction at 22° 46’ Capricorn on January 12. Lest we forget, there’s also the Mercury waning square to Neptune on the 20th (16° 05’ Sagittarius-Pisces), on the same day as the Venus-Uranus square from 2° 05’ Aquarius-Taurus. They say a well-built house has good bones. The skies of December don’t. This isn’t end of the world stuff, of course, but it’s definitely in the “have your go bag ready” category. Just in case.

On the more obvious geophysical plane, December 9-15 and December 19-January 2 are the turbulence zone for strong storms, high tides and moderate-to-severe (M5+) earthquakes and notable volcanic activity. The solar eclipse window looks like the more potent of the two, with one of its major stress lines running across West Central China and the Indochina Peninsula – mirrored on the other side of the world along a strip from the west coast of South America up into Central America, the Caribbean Sea, across Cuba and the Bahamas and up the US Atlantic Coast (including DC). These are only two of the many stress zones for this eclipse, as you can see from the corresponding astro-locality map. And because major political, cultural and economic indicators are active in the eclipse configuration (e.g. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto), human institutions are bound to go through a period of instability in late December as well.

Apart from collective humanity – markets, governments, etc. – individuals will feel this as well. Most especially, there will be a focus on people born under celestial configurations touched by the degrees called out above: 20° Gemini, 4° and 20° Capricorn, 16d Sagittarius-Pisces and 2° Aquarius-Taurus. Check your chart, and don’t forget to consider anything that’s squared or opposed by these degrees.

An example of an affected chart that bridges the individual and the collective this month is Donald Trump’s, with his natal lunar eclipse solidly hit by the full moon the 12th; and his natal Saturn-Venus conjunction targeted by Saturn and Pluto out in space this month. Loss can be magnified by the Mercury-Neptune square on the 20th and the Sun-Jupiter alignment on the 27th – signs of a feeling of omnipotence, an over-optimistic miscalculation of the odds and angles of whatever challenge arises.

How you will know if you’re in the cosmic cross-hairs? Fear of loss is the prime indicator, given the nature of these celestial configurations. Feeling lucky or outright invulnerable is the ultimate warning sign at times like this. Get a grip!
