Astropro's Website Of the Week Award

WOW!MAY 12, 1997 - The Astrological Association of Great Britain is the very model of an astrological society website - great style and content, the kind of site that's a destination in its own right as well as a genuine enticement to join the sponsoring organization. Other astrological groups take note: this is the direction you want to move in, albeit after your own fashion of course. What's great about this site is that it gives you quite enough astrology to keep you coming back (birth and event data in the news, excerpts from the Astrological Association Journal and much more), while making it clear that if you want it all you'll have to join the organization. You don't have to join to get plenty of good stuff here, mind you - but the temptation is bound to grow with each visit. Savvy 'Net marketing, I'd say.

Style is another of the Astrological Association website's strong suits. This is an attractive site that manages to wrap lots of substance in a clean, uncluttered and easy to use package. Kudos to the coders!

Be advised: this site uses frames and doesn't offer a no-frames option. As I've mentioned before, I'm not generally a fan of framed sites, if only because they too often take a screen that's already too small and hack it into utterly claustrophobic fragments. Not to mention the fact that some people's browsers don't do frames anyway. (If this applies to you, do yourself a favor and dump your obsolete browser. You can download FREE current release versions of Netscape Navigator or Microsoft Internet Explorer by clicking on their respective icons at Astropro's entry.) As framed sites go, the Astrological Association has one of the better ones - although there is some crowding of the text and graphics in the vertical menu frame as it appears on the left side of my screen. This may not be the case on YOUR screen, simply because there are so many monitors and graphics cards on the market that writing HTML to accomodate all of them will drive a webmaster to drink - which is why I have come to believe HTML is an acronym for How To Marinate Liver.
